POLISHED CONCRETE FLOORS

Concrete Polishing

We are based on the Gold Coast, but serve clients all over Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Queensland.

In recent years, concrete has increasingly become the material of choice for many floors.  Concrete is evolving as an artistic medium which provides unparalleled advantages in design flexibility, longevity, strength, low maintenance , hygiene and cost effectiveness.  Polished concrete emulates style comparable to elaborate terrazzo or other superior stone flooring – a look that designers and decorators are aspiring to implement creatively in projects ranging from classical to contemporary, rustic or sophisticated.  The smooth high lustre floors can be polished in many ways ranging from grinding so that the fines of the sands are only exposed which is classed as a “salt and pepper” effect, or to fully expose the aggregate and/or stain to replicate the look of polished stone.  Polished concrete opens up an array  of design opportunities, providing a creative alternative to new or tired concrete.

Polished concrete floors always cover a large scope of grit finishes.

Honed Concrete

Honed concrete is mainly used in external environments is generally finished anywhere between a 40 and an 80 diamond grit and generally sealed in a penetrating sealer which leaves no sealer residue on the surface  of the concrete, but locks the surface from the impregnation of moisture and the ingression of stains, whilst still allowing the concrete to breath.  These surfaces are generally found around swimming pools, external walkways and most areas not undercover.

Concrete Polishing

Client's can choose from a range of diamond grit finishes ranging from 120 polish grit with a variety of sealer options up to  the Hiperfloor Super Polishing System of 3,000 polish grit.

There is a  polished concrete floor to suit every budget and need, and Multiblast has the right advice and experience to make sure your project is  everything you hoped for.

Hiperfloor

Multiblast is proud to be aligned with King Concepts, the developers behind the Hiperfloor concrete polishing system. Using new diamond grinding technology, Multiblast can transform your new or existing concrete surface into a beautiful, high gloss mirror like floor with the advantages of being a high performance, environmentally friendly and hygienic floor finish.

Project requirements and demands will determine to what extent of grinding and polishing is necessary to expose the degree of aggregate and shine that is required. Grinding and polishing steps are combined with the application of a compatible, liquid densifier with the ability to take the durability and streng th of the polished floor to 10 times that of a standard concrete floor. This in turn incorporates advantages in abrasion resistance, exceptional non marking capabilities and resistance to wear, tyre marking from forklifts, and staining from spillage of food, beverages, oils, chemicals and fatty materials.

These floors can be colour stained to present the look of polished stone and the array of colours can make for a breath taking affect throughout your floor.  Hiperfloor brings out the beauty of the concrete and this, combined with the unparalleled advantages of an easy maintenance, chemical free, hygienic and seamless floor, makes for a practical industrial choice and a high class design statement.

Multiblast Vivid Dyes System

Choose your colour, choose your intensity. Choose your floor from the endless design possibilities that Vivid Dye Offers.

Colour can change the effect of a polished floor. It can be added to freshly laid concrete or can be applied to hardened concrete in the form of a reactive stain or penetrating dye after the polishing process.

After polishing, it is imperative the finish always be protected with a non toxic chemical hardener and densifier. This treatment will make the concrete surface harder, denser and more abrasion and contaminant resistant.

Dyes can also be used to alter existing grey or coloured concrete surfaces. However, they are not ultraviolet stable and can potentially fade when used outside. Dyes are usually applied at the grit level just prior to the final polishing step. They dry in minutes, allowing the final polishing and liquid hardener application to continue with minimal downtime once the dye residue is removed. This can be achieved by simply running over the floor surface with a white buffing pad. Shapes and patterns may also be introduced with shallow saw cuts. When doing intricate designs, acetone based dyes are used to create sharp crisp lines between colours and designs which dry in seconds. For large single colour areas water based dyes are used for their environmentally friendly application.

The advantage of using dyes over acid staining is the variety of colours available. There are over 30 colours to choose from which can range in strengths depending on the application. We only use and recommend these dyes on high polished concrete floors and is most effective when a salt and pepper finish is achieved throughout the slab. Linked together with the L & M FGS Permashine system, we can create a high gloss finished floor that will look great for years ahead. Unlike the majority of floor treatments that can deteriorate over time, the advantage of this complete system is that the more times you clean the better it looks.
